The elegant Boscolo Park Hotel is beautifully decorated, has a restaurant, bar and lounges and a private beach, earning every one of its four stars. Located a block away from the Promenade des Anglais, overlooking the Mediterranean and the Baie des Anges, all rooms have balconies with views of the sea or the gardens. All 104 rooms are air conditioned, have luxurious full bathrooms, mini-bar, satellite television, and the very reasonable rate includes breakfast.

This tiny (13 rooms) little hotel is just two blocks from Promenade des Anglais and the beach. Family run (and family friendly,) every room is air conditioned, has color satellite television, en suite bathrooms with shower, hair dryer, and almost all have mini-bar. The hotel is reasonably priced; there is also a meal-plan option.

Château des Ollières****
Located in the midst of three acres of park-like grounds, this original château was built for Russian royalty in the 1800s. Large, ornate rooms and suites include luxurious marble bathrooms. This hotel has nine guestrooms, most with outdoor access. All rooms have satellite television, air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, Internet access and mini-bar. This is an ideal hotel for romantic getaways or honeymoons. It's located five minutes to the beach; parking is included in the reasonable rate for this four-star castle.

Four Points Sheraton Elysées Palace****
The good news: It's a beautiful, elegant, contemporary hotel located directly on the Baie des Anges. The bad news: It's a contemporary hotel with a black glass facade, more suited to an airport hotel or a mid-city business hotel. No balconies or windows that open. It isn't our style but your mileage might differ. All rooms have elegant appointments and luxurious full baths; walk outside and you are at the beach. There's a pool, a full-service restaurant, a lobby bar, a café and a pool bar/grill.

Hôtel Florence***
This is an attractive moderate hotel located between the beach and the railway station on a quiet pedestrian street. All 53 rooms have air conditioning, mini-bars, full baths, direct-dial telephones and satellite television. There is a bar on site. It's a short walk to the beach, the Albert Premier gardens and the historic Old Nice; the hotel is in an area of shops and restaurants.

The hotel is elegant and offers many extras, including luxurious rooms, marble baths, a fully-equipped fitness center, high-speed Internet service, a full-service restaurant and bar. This is another modern hotel with no balconies and windows that don't open, but since it is not on the beach (a few blocks away) and has elaborate meeting facilities, perhaps it is better suited to the business traveler than the leisure guest.
